FAQs

Answering your questions

Should I bag my grass clippings?

Most Maine lawns benefit from mulching instead of bagging. We use mulching mowers that return nutrients to the soil. We only bag clippings in winter months or for Zoysia grass when requested. Bagging is available for an added cost.

How do you choose what height to mow at?

We adjust mowing height based on the season. In spring, we mow lower to kickstart growth. In summer, we mow higher to protect from heat. In fall, we gradually lower the height again. Have a preference? Let us know.

How long will the work take?

Timelines depend on the scope of work — from a few minutes to a few days depending on the scope of the job and/or redesign.

What if you cause damage to my property?

If you notice damage, contact us right away. We have a team ready to make repairs quickly. Please don’t hire anyone else before contacting us—we’ll make it right.

How do I pay for services?

We bill after each visit and charge your card the next business day. A valid credit card is required to keep billing smooth and rates low. We accept all major cards

What areas do you cover?

We’re based in South Portland, Maine and serve clients throughout the South Portland , Portland, and Scarborough area.

Is fence damage normal?

Fence scuffs from string trimmers are common, especially on boards without bottom runners. Gate areas are most prone to wear. Contact us if you see damage so we can take a look and repair if needed.

What if I have questions or concerns?

Email us or text/call our office. It’s best not to relay service issues directly to the crew as they may not be able to update your account. We’ll always follow up promptly.

Is weeding or shrub trimming included in mowing?

No. Our mowing service is just for turf areas. Garden beds and shrubs require a separate Bush & Bed service, which we’re happy to provide.

Do I need to be home for mowing?

Not at all. As long as we have gate access and pets are secured, you can go about your day while we handle the lawn.

Do you offer landscaping or planting?

Yes. Reach out to schedule a design consult and we’ll build a quote tailored to your space.

What if I’m not satisfied with a service?

Call us within 24 hours. We’ll send someone out to take a look and either fix the issue right away, send the crew back, or make a plan to adjust next visit.

What if you miss my mow day?

We rarely miss days except for weather delays. In that case, we’ll be out the next day. If your lawn was missed, please call us within 48 hours.

How is pricing determined?

Prices are based on the total square footage of your lawn using online maps. Lawns under 8,000 sq. ft. are eligible for service. Larger lots require custom quotes.

Do you require a minimum number of visits?

No contracts, no minimums. We offer weekly or bi-weekly plans, but no one-time services. Cancel or pause at any time.

Can I choose my service day?

We do our best, but days are generally routed by neighborhood and zip code to ensure efficient service.

What happens during weather delays or holidays?

We mow in light rain when safe. If we delay for weather, we catch up the next day. We do not skip holidays. Let us know ahead of time if you’d like to pause your service.

Do you mow on Saturdays?

Yes we do, unless specifically instructed not to by a client.

What if my yard has locked gates or dogs?

Please leave gates unlocked and pets secured. We recommend combo locks if you’re away. We can’t send crews back if we can’t access your yard.

Will you pick up pet waste or toys?

Please clear the lawn of pet waste, toys, rocks, and other debris before service. These can damage equipment or become dangerous projectiles.

What if I want to cancel service?

You can cancel any time, but we can’t accommodate same-day cancellations. Let us know at least 24 hours ahead.

What happens if I skip a service?

Contact us at least 24 hours ahead to skip. Your next mow will be the following scheduled day. Skipped cuts are not automatically rescheduled.

Is bi-weekly mowing a good idea?

We offer it, but it’s not ideal in peak growth months. Bi-weekly lawns may have more clumps, uneven cuts, or thatch buildup. Weekly service keeps your lawn healthiest.
